How to select the lithium battery of AGV trolley?
At present, there are many kinds of AGV cars, and the choice of AGV batteries is even more so. How to select the AGV lithium battery?
In the past two years, we have summarized the following points in our cooperation with many AGV car customers, and hope to help everyone.
The lithium batteries currently used in AGV cars mainly include: ternary lithium batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries. Here is a brief introduction to their differences: Relatively speaking, the advantages of ternary are high monomer voltage, light weight, and good low temperature performance, while its disadvantages are short cycle life and poor stability. Its monomer rated voltage is 3.6V, working voltage is 3.0V-4.2V, and the advantage of lithium iron phosphate battery is high safety and long cycle life. The disadvantage is that the energy density is low and the entire battery pack is heavier. Its monomer rated voltage is 3.2V, and its working voltage is 2.5V-3.65V.
Therefore, when choosing agv batteries, we can determine the battery specifications and models from the combination of the battery's communication protocol, voltage, weight, use environment temperature, safety, and cycle life.
1. Communication protocol
At present, the communication protocols of AGV trolley batteries mainly include: RS485, RS232, CAN. Select the BMS module of the battery according to the communication protocol.
2. Voltage
Here we must consider the rated voltage and maximum voltage of the output terminal to determine the voltage and material of the lithium battery. The rated voltage of the battery should not be lower than the rated voltage of the motor. However, the full voltage of the battery should not be higher than the maximum voltage of the device. Therefore, it is sometimes seen that the voltage of the agv battery is a 12-string ternary lithium battery with a full-charge voltage of 50.4V, instead of the commonly used 24V or 48V.
3. Power consumption
If the power consumption is large or high-power discharge, such as the lithium battery capacity exceeds 1.5 kWh, if the weight and size can meet the requirements, it is recommended to use the iron lithium battery, because the safety of use must be considered.
4. Discharge power
If the discharge current is above 120A, it is also recommended to use lithium iron batteries.
5. Use environment
If working in a high temperature or harsh environment, a lithium iron phosphate battery can be used. A ternary lithium battery can be used in extreme low temperature conditions.

6. Manufacturers
Taking into account the cost of AGV lithium battery cost, after-sales cost and unexpected conditions during transportation, it is necessary to choose a professional AGV battery manufacturer to customize. And this type of agv battery mainly investigates the battery cell, BMS template (especially with communication protocol), and assembly process. Use genuine batteries and BMS solutions to choose first-line manufacturers. It is best to use lithium batteries for new energy buses in the assembly process, so as to prevent accidents such as shock resistance and vertical transportation without problems.
